Le locotracteur Decauville TMB30 pris en charge par Johnatan a fonctionné sur ses deux cylindres lors d'essais au mois d'août qui l'ont montré capable de se déplacer par ses propres moyens et d'entraîner le TMB15 l'ayant fait démarrer.
Il y aurait semble-t-il un joint de culasse à refaire, en plus de bien d'autres choses, mais il est déjà acquis que cet engin pourra être remis en service. The Decauville TMB30 engine, in charge of Johnatan, ran on its two cylinders during august trials where it was able to move by itself and to tow the TMB15 which was used for starting. It seems a cylinder head seal is to be replaced, as well as loads of other things, but it is a fact that this engine will be back into service.

Le petit locotracteur Ruston "Le breton" a retrouvé sa configuration d'origine après quelques travaux. The little Ruston engine "Le breton" is back in its original shape after some work.
Le réservoir de liquide de refroidissement était trop corrodé pour être valablement réparé par soudure ou masticage, il a donc été entièrement reconstruit. The coolant tank was too badly corroded to be efficiently repaired by welding or putty, so it has been entirely reconstructed from scratch.

Les joints de radiateurs ont finalement tous été remplacés par des modèles moulés en polyuréthane par nos soins. Leur dureté s'est révélée adaptée au besoin, le moule est conservé soigneusement car s'il est nécessaire de les démonter, ils ne pourront être réutilisés car trop déformés. The radiator seals have finally been all replaced by new ones molded in polyurethan compound by ourselves. Their hardness has proven suitable to the need, the mold is kept secure because if we have to disassemble again, it would be necessary to mold new seals to replace the too distorted ones.

Le remontage a demandé pas mal d'ajustage pour que radiateurs, réservoir, ventilateur et tôles puissent s'assembler correctement. Il apparaît malheureusement que l'un des roulements neufs est trop serré dans son logement et que la courroie est trop tendue; le roulement est trop sollicité et fait déjà du bruit... Reassembly required a lot of adjusting for the radiators, tank, blower and sheets can fit together. Unfortunately, it appears that one of the new ball bearings suffers of a too narrow fitting and that the new belt is too tighten. The bearing is overstressed and already makes noise...

Les essais statiques et sur voies de service étant satisfaisants, l'engin a été déployé en ligne pour un train de travaux. Dans cet emploi, le Ruston est plus efficace qu'un Decauville. Tests on static and on service track being satisfactory, the engine has been sent on main line for a special train to work on some sleepers. In such use, it is more efficient than a Decauville.

Il reste encore un gros travail de ponçage avant de passer à la peinture de finition. L'apprêt permet néanmoins de rendre l'engin plus présentable en attendant l'étape suivante. Alex nous a même fait des marquages provisoires ! It remains a huge sanding work prior to finish paint. The protective coat allows to get the engine more pleasant to look at in waiting the next step. Alex even painted temporary markings !

La remise en état n'est pas terminée, loin de là, mais le fait d'avoir réussi la remise en route et d'avoir fiabilisé le refroidissement permet d'envisager la suite avec la satisfaction d'avoir un engin en état de marche à présenter en retour de la confiance qui nous a été témoignée quand on nous l'a confié. Restoration is far from being complete but this successful repair and the colling system secured allow us to prepare for the next round with the satisfaction to have a running engine to show off in return of the confidence we were granted when the engine was placed in our hands.
Les travaux sur la baignoire se sont poursuivis et les banquettes ont été remplacées par des bancs en bois construits par les élèves du lycée professionnel Funay au Mans. Work on the "bathtub" was continuing and the seats have been replaced by wooden benches made by students of Funay professional high school at Le Mans.

Le système de freinage (mécanique et à air) a été remonté, l'installation électrique, signal d'alarme et sonorisation entièrement refaite. Cette voiture a pu alors réintégrer la rame voyageurs qui retrouve sa configuration habituelle. The brake system (both air and mechanical) has been refitted and the electrical installation, alarm and public adress, completely renewed. This carriage could then get back in the passenger train which returns in its usual configuration.
Le travail de restauration des petits engins diesel suit son cours. Restoration work on diesel engines is on progress.
Le Ruston voit sa tôlerie avant neuve progresser lentement mais sûrement. Yves-André a offert une poignée de vis à tête fraisée pour reproduire l'assemblage d'origine du carter de courroie. Les logements ont donc été réalisés pour noyer ces têtes de vis. La cornière supérieure a été également reproduite et mise en place, montrant alors toute l'utilité des trous oblongs pour pouvoir reposer la grille frontale. Une rangée de trous a été en partie traitée à la lime, le reste sera fait avec une fraise motorisée... The Ruston engine has its new front panel slowly completed. Yves-André offered some taper head screws to reproduce the original assembly of the belt protection. Chamfers have been machined to accomodate these screws. The upper square angle bar has been reproduced also and mounted, then showing the need of oblong holes in order to fix the blower protection grid. A row has been partially filed by hand, the rest will be with a powered tool...
Le TMB30 Decauville ex Cemnad (maintenant AMD pour Amis du Musée Decauville), aux mains de Jonathan, a été grandement révisé: gros nettoyage, diverses réparations, reconstruction du circuit de refroidissement... et un essai de démarrage a été mené le 6 juillet tracté par un TMB15. Un seul cylindre a bien voulu fonctionner sur les deux mais cela permettait déjà d'entretenir la rotation. Cela fait très plaisir de voir cet engin reprendre vie quand on a connu son état le jour de sa récupération. La culasse du cylindre récalcitrant a été déposée pour chercher l'origine du problème. Une semaine plus tard, ça fonctionne enfin mais il faut toujours un autre engin pour le démarrage... The TMB30 Decauville ex Cemnad (now AMD standing for Amis du Musée Decauville / Friends of the Decauville Museum), in the hands of Jonathan, has been largely overhauled: strong cleaning, several repairs, rebuilding of the coolant circuit. A start-up trial has been conducted on july 6th with the help of a TMB15 for a push-start. Only one cylinder ignited but it allowed to maintain the rotation. It is really pleasant to see this engine live again knowing its bad condition when reclaimed. The cylinder head has been removed to seek out the trouble. One week later, at last it runs but an other engine is still needed for start...
Le "Paquebot", quant à lui, a de nouveau une cabine et reprend donc forme, laissant espérer une remise en service à relativement court terme. The "Paquebot" has now a new cabin and takes its shape, giving hope to be back in service under rather short term.
La 020T O&K "La Touraine" a repris du service après une période de réparation.
Les locos vapeur de Rillé sont normalement en service chacune leur tour pour une période d'environ un mois. Quand l'autre prend le relai, celle qui s'arrête voit sa chaudière vidée et nettoyée, et d'éventuelles opérations de maintenance peuvent être entreprises.
Alors que la 040DFB était en service et que le changement de poste approchait, un contrôle a montré une manœuvre difficile du levier d'inversion de marche. Les recherches ont montré qu'une articulation du mécanisme était grippée. Il a fallu beaucoup d'efforts et finalement faire appel à la presse hydraulique pour extraire la pièce incriminée.
Après en avoir rectifié les zones abîmées, l'organe de transmission a été remonté et réglé pour éviter tout point dur et la machine a pu reprendre sa place en tête de train. La journée du 6 juillet ayant été commencée avec la 040, quelques voyageurs ont pu assister au départ de la 020 sur le pont tournant lors du passage du train au dépôt et à la relève en gare, une opération plutôt rare à Rillé et très appréciée.
The 040 OK loco "La Touraine" got back into service after repairs. Steam locos at Rillé normally swap duty position around a monthly period. When the other takes over, the one stopped has its boiler empty and cleaned, and maintenance operations can be performed if necessary. While the 080DFB was at work and the change was approaching, a control showed that the forward/reverse lever was hard to move. Checking showed a seizure in an articulated piece of the mechanism. It took some efforts and finally the help of the hydraulic press to extract the seized part. The altered zones refitted on the lathe, the transmission gear has been put back in place and set to avoid any hard spot. The machine could then get back head of the train.The 6th of july was started with the 080 and some passengers could see the departure of the 040 on the turntable and the relieving in the station, a rather seldom situation at Rillé and very well appreciated.
Eric et Jacky ont mis en place l’œil de bœuf de la rotonde. Le bâtiment est loin d'être terminé mais c'est une étape symbolique qui marque l'approche de la toiture. Eric and Jacky laid down the roundhouse oxeye. The building is far from being finished but it is a symbolic step marking the approach of the roofing.

Il reste à finir le haut du pignon pour pouvoir continuer la mise en place de la charpente. The top of the wall remains to be built prior to laying down the carpentry.
La transaction a été assez longue à conclure mais sans difficulté particulière. Et le 4 juin, Une nouvelle locomotive à vapeur type 040 DFB (brigadelok), a été achetée par des membres de l'Aecfm pour être ramenée à Rillé. Cette machine de 1917 vient du Chemin de fer Touristique du Creusot où elle a été remplacée au service par une autre du même type.
Son état mécanique et extérieur est satisfaisant, la chaudière, par contre, est à vérifier.
L'objectif étant sa remise en service, elle passera par un démontage et une inspection pour savoir ce qu'il en est. The deal was somewhat long to get but without particular difficulty. On the 4th of june, a new steam locomotive type 080 DFB (brigadelok) has been purchased by Aecfm members to bring it back to Rillé. This machine of 1917 comes from Le Creusot (CFC), where it was replaced by an other one of the same series. Its mechanical and general condition is rather good, but the boiler has to be thoroughly checked. The aim being to get the loco back into service, it will be dismantled for a close inspection.

Le chargement sur le camion a été fait à la grue sans difficulté, c'est une opération déjà vue pour l'Aecfm. Après calage et sanglage, le camion a pu se rendre à Pithiviers pour charger une caisse de wagon Baume et Marpent. Loading on the truck has been done with a crane without a hitch, it is a well known operation for Aecfm members. After rigging, the truck went to Pithiviers to load a Baume and Marpent wagon box.
A pithiviers, tout était prêt et le chargement a été rondement mené. Les rails en bois prolongés sur la remorque et les lorries amenés la semaine précédente permettront de déplacer cette caisse plus tard. At Pithiviers, all was ready for loading and it went smoothly. More wooden rails have been added on the truck and the lorries previously brought there will help to move this box later.
Arrivé à Rillé, tout ce petit monde est déchargé le plus simplement du monde... en roulant. La rampe facilite grandement les choses et permet de se passer de grue, une économie significative. Arrived at Rillé, all these materials are unloaded the simplest way... rolling. The runway makes things easy and allows to avoid renting a crane: a significant saving !
C'est donc la sixième locomotive à vapeur à prendre attache à Rillé. So this is the sixth steam locomotive to get permanent location at Rillé.
