Chantier voie à Pithiviers track work

Notre coopération avec le réseau de Pithiviers se poursuit, nous leur apportons notre aide pour la réfection de leur voie qui en a bien besoin.
  Our cooperation with the Pithiviers railway is going on, we help them to maintain their track that really needs it.

Cette année, c'est encore une douzaine de membres qui se sont rendus à Pithiviers (45) pour participer à deux jours intenses de chantier de voie, en l’occurrence un renouvellement voie-ballast de 400 mètres. L'AMTP avait passé une semaine à déposer l'ancienne voie, à changer les traverses et reposer les rails. A notre arrivée, il restait à verser le ballast, à régler la voie et à bourrer le ballast sous les traverses, opérations pour lesquelles nous avons quelque expérience et matériels.
  This year, it is again a dozen of volunteers that went to Pithiviers (45) to attend an intense 2 day track work, for instance a full track replacement 400 meter long. The AMTP society had a week to remove the old track, replace the sleepers and lay the rails down again. At our arrival, it remained to pour the ballast, set the track and pack the ballast under the sleepers. Operations for which we have some experience and tools.

Deux de nos trémies à ballast nous avaient précédé sur place, elles nous ont fait gagner un temps précieux.
Two of our ballast dropping carriages went there before us, they saved us precious time.

Pour le bourrage, des machines de location similaires à celles utilisées pour notre prolongement nous ont permis de traiter la totalité du chantier dans le temps imparti.
  For packing the ballast, we used a couple of rental tamper machines, similar to the ones used for our railway prolongation, that allowed us to complete the whole task in the given time.

Le résultat avant/après est spectaculaire, un locotracteur qui dansait avant ne bouge pratiquement plus maintenant sur ce tronçon. Les passagers apprécieront certainement cette portion de voie qui devrait rester en état plus longtemps, la voie ayant été relevée, les traverses ne sont plus dans la terre et donc moins exposées à l'humidité.
  The result before/after is spectacular, an engine that was "dancing" before almost does not move anymore on this part. Passengers will certainly enjoy this portion of the track which should remain in good condition longer. Since the track has been raised, the sleepers are no more in the soil and now less exposed to moisture.

En échange de notre aide l'AMTP nous prête une voiture voyageurs pendant deux ans pour augmenter notre capacité d'accueil en attendant la mise en service d'un nouveau véhicule. L'entraide associative, c'est gagnant-gagnant !
  In exchange of our help, the AMTP lends us a passenger carriage for two years, to increase our capacity until we have a new carriage of our own in operation. Mutual help between preservation organizations is a win-win affair !
