Travaux de voie à Pithiviers - Track works at Pithiviers

Depuis plusieurs années maintenant, notre association assiste l'AMTP pour la réfection de la voie. C'est toujours l'occaaprès de rencontrer d'autres amateurs de trains.
   For several years now, our society helps the AMTP to maintain its track. It is always the opportunity to meet other train enthusiasts.

Une douzaine de membres s'est donc rendue à Pithiviers, partant de Rillé ou de région parisienne, précédée de plusieurs jours par notre bourreuse hydraulique et deux ballastières.
L'équipe de Pithiviers a préalablement remplacé toutes les traverses sur une nouvelle portion de voie et ajouté du ballast. Notre action a surtout consisté à la mise au niveau, au bourrage et à l'alignement. L'utilisation de vrai ballast en quantité suffisante au lieu du gravier d'origine rend le calage nettement plus efficace. Au terme du travail, des circulations d'essai montrent une différence notable du comportement des trains, tant à bord que de l'extérieur.
   A dozen on members went to Pithiviers, either coming from Rillé or from Paris area, preceded by the hydraulic tamping machine and two ballast wagons. The Pithiviers team has already replaced all the sleepers of a track section and added some new ballast. Our action was mostly levelling, packing and alignment. Using genuine ballast in proper quantity instead of the original gravel allows for a notably more efficient setting. When the job is done, running tests show a sensible difference of train behavior, both on board and from the ground.

Une autre portion de voie a été reprise vers le terminal de Bellébat où des traverses ont été remplacées sous des aiguillages, avec ajout de ballast et bourrage entre la gare et la courbe de sortie du site.
   An other track section has been renewed near the terminal of Bellebat, where sleepers were replaced under some switches. Ballast was also added and packed between the station and the exit curve of the site.

Le temps a été très favorable. Nous avons connu des conditions de travail bien plus difficiles les années précédentes: pluie, froid et toujours du vent (les éoliennes ne sont pas là par hasard).
   The weather was very favorable. We met some rather rough conditions the previous years: rain, cold and always wind (wind generators are there for a reason).

Cette session a été émaillée d'un incident technique sur une des ballastières dont un roulement d'essieu a cassé au point que la roue s'incline. Elle a été mise sur cale pour être ramenée au dépôt, la réparation s'annonce compliquée.
   This works encountered a technical mishap: a ballast wagon had a wheel out of its position due to a broken bearing. It was raised and brought back to the depot, repair will be difficult.

Après le chantier, le matériel est stocké à Pithiviers en attendant sa récupération quelques jours plus tard. Cette fois, ce n'est pas un transporteur qui a fait le convoi, mais un membre de l'association avec un camion de location équipé d'une grue. Le matériel est attendu à Rillé où un autre chantier voie est en préparation.
   After the work, the equipment is stored at Pithiviers until it is taken some days later. This time, it not a transporter that brought it back to Rillé, but one of our members with a rental truck with an onboard crane. The equipment is expected at rillé where an onther track work is being prepared.

Le chantier ne prend réellement fin que lorsque le matériel est ramené à Rillé et le camion de location rendu.
   Work is really over only when the equipment is finally arrived at Rillé and the rental truck returned.
